Amesbury Parish Church
The Abbey Church of St Mary and St Melor
Choir & Music
The church has a four-part choir, which leads the congregational worship at the Parish Eucharist every Sunday morning; at Evensong, usually monthly; and at major festivals, saints’ days and other services. They are also available to sing at weddings and funerals. The choir has a wide repertoire of anthems in the Anglican choral tradition, by composers ranging from the 16th century to the present, and they are always willing to learn new music.
Members take part in the annual Diocesan Choral Festival Service in the Salisbury Cathedral, and they sing choral evensong in the cathedral once or twice a year.
The choir currently comprises about 20 members, including a youth section, and they are always pleased to welcome new members.
Practice takes place on Thursdays from 7.00 – 8.00pm in the church.
The choir are a friendly group, and they enjoy meeting together for social events during the year.
If you would like to join them, or to find out more, please contact Michael Nottage by clicking here. Feel free to come to a practice and meet the choir.
Concerts and Recitals
The church hosts concerts and recitals by choirs and performers based locally and farther afield, including the Military Wives’ Choir and Builth Wells Male Voice Choir. As well as providing enjoyable and high quality performances, these are also excellent social and fund-raising occasions. Check out the News and Events page for upcoming concerts.
